Winter Self Care

I don’t know about you, but I have been freezing these past few weeks! Winter is officially here, and during these cold months we need to remember to take care of ourselves. I gathered my top five self care tips to keep you happy and healthy. Enjoy!

Stay Moisturized. The cold dries out our skin so it’s important to moisturize our bodies! Use an oil-based moisturizer to help retain moisture and add a layer of protection. Be sure to find a brand that includes avocado, almond, primrose, or other natural oils, because those will not clog your skin! Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration Vanilla Citron by First Aid Beauty is a great moisturizer you can use for your face and everywhere else, it protects the skin and provides hydration–and it’s one of my favorites!

Drink lots of water. You can get just as dehydrated in the winter as you do in the summer. This will also help your skin stay healthy and overall help you feel better during the cold winter. Check out these cute bottles from S’well that keep your water hot and/or cold for up to 24 hours.

Lip Balm. I am a lip balm hoarder, I love to try them all! During the winter our lips get extremely chapped from the cold so it’s important to keep your lips happy and free from cracks and breaking. I don’t like using lipstick during the winter because I have a hard time finding one that keeps the moisture in and stays fresh. I personally love Vaseline’s Lip Therapy in Rosy lips, it adds a hue of pink while keeping your lips moisturized.

Wear gloves. After you moisturize slip on a pair of your favorite cozy gloves. Because our hands have very few glands they crack and become dry during the winter. These Cashmere Cabled Gloves from Garnet Hill are so fashionable and very cozy!

Get lots of rest. It’s not just the cold that puts stress on our bodies during the winter. The stress of the holidays and beyond can also leave us forgetting to take care of ourselves! Be sure to make time to get lots of rest. Whether it be going to sleep one hour earlier of fitting a nap into your day, honor your body when it calls for rest! I can never have too many blankets.
