I love shoes. I can’t explain it, but the feeling I get when I purchase or receive a new pair of shoes, it’s magic. I know for a fact my grandmother started the obsession at a very young age. I think I was almost one, when I started wearing “real shoes,” and it was my first Christmas. My parents dressed me up in my Christmas dress, but my Ma was the one to bestow my precious black velvet ballet flats. Since that moment she was the one to always buy me my new shoes for school, and, to be quite honest, whenever I visited her during my school breaks. We would typically walk down to Payless Shoes and we would graze the aisles for the one, or two, perfect pairs of shoes. I loved those moments spent with her and I loved ever pair of shoe she bought me.
Winter is a great time to go shoe shopping, because it is when all the cute boots and tennis shoes come out in stores. I’ve collected a list of my top ten shoes for winter. It’s a mix of velvet, high tops, and leather with a sprinkle of glitter. Enjoy!
I love suede. It’s soft and makes me feel happy inside. These Stuart Weitzman’s booties would be so cute with skinny jeans and a chunky sweater. I was initially drawn to these booties because of the shape of the heel. I also love that it will give me some extra height with it’s 3.5 inch heel.
I’m going to be completely honest with you, I have very thick calves. This sadly hinders me from wearing cute boots like these, but a girl can dream, right? I love these Laurence Dacade side-lace over the knee boot. I love the subtle lacing on the side and the gold zipper. How cool is it that the zipper is on the outside of the boot too! The color is also a win, it is the perfect beige to match my Caramel Macchiato!
I have a thing for bold shoes and these Suede Platform Moccasin Boots by Robert Clergerie are a prime example of that. These are the type of shoes I run up to in a store and start to jump up and down about. They’re also the type of shoe that I would tell my mom I would never ask for anything ever again if she bought them for me or sell my soul for. I love the dark blue suede and the platform. As I stare at this shoe longer, I’m starting to feel nostalgic for when I dressed very punk… and I’m okay with that.
I love a good Chelsea boot, but I especially love these by Stella McCartney because of the burnt orange colored platform heel! For someone who always bumps her toes around the city and scuffs up her boots, I really appreciate the toe cap! Shout out to Sir Paul McCartney’s daughter for making a killer boot!
I have very petite feet, so I shop in the kid’s shoes on a regular basis. Don’t judge me! Some of the styles are very fashionable and look the same as women’s, also they are usually significantly cheaper. But whenever I try to buy a pair of flashy, sparkly pair of boots my fiancé reminds me I am a 22 year old woman not a 5 year old. Of course I through a fit, making him question if I really am 5 years old, and try on a more sophisticated style of kid’s shoe. That is why I was very excited when I was scrolling through the Mod Cloth website and found this pair of boots by E-Eight. They have the design of a young woman’s shoe with the sparkle and shine I need. It’s a win-win!
I’m going to start off by saying that once I found these online I immediately purchased them, and I just took them off. These are definitely in the top five of my favorite shoes of all time. I was initially drawn to these because they look like a boot and they are leather. Then I read they were scotch-guard treated and I was sold! I love them and I can wear them in the rain and snow without worrying that I will ruin them. I currently have them in black but I’m planning to order the green!
I love velvet shoes, and more importantly I love velvet boots! So, when I found these burgundy velvet boots by Steve Madden, I thougth I had died and gone to heaven. These are perfect for a holiday party and would dress up any outfit. The heel is a great height and the velvet has a beautiful shine. It comes in three colors: Burgundy, Navy, and Pink, and I would like one of each!
I love converse, I own to many to count in several different colors but my black and white ones are always my go to’s. These wool chucks are perfect for the winter season to keep your feet nice and toasty! Converse even reinvented the iconic seventies style with the contrast striping! They come in four colors: black, red, blue, and white, but I am most drawn to the white with contrasting red! So cute for winter!
Everyone deserves a new tennis shoe during the winter, especially to wear during all of your Christmas shopping! Shopping is hard work, and being on your feet all day is difficult so it’s important to wear the right shoe! These minimalist, bronze Nikes would be my shoe of choice to wear while shopping. The cushioned foot-bed offers awesome support while keeping your feet looking fancy and festive!
Okay, I looooove these Valentino boots! The symbols are so original, and when I saw the name I started singing the song by Sublime. These shoes are both unique and stylish. I love the tiny touches of color on the pull tab and the pyramid stud included on the back. I would rock these shoes through winter all the way to festival season!
